HOME: Minnesotans Against Terrorism
The 2003 Books Against Hate: Minnesota's Middle East Library Initiative campaign, created by Minnesotans Against Terrorism (M.A.T.) with help from members of Beth Jacob Synagogue, is partnering with Barnes & Noble bookstores to donate copies of these 18 "Essential Books About Terrorism and the Middle East" (see below) to nearly 30 Twin Cities public libraries. The "Books Against Hate" campaign was inspired when M.A.T. members learned that Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed ibn Talal had donated $500,000 to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to help finance a $2.5 million dollar book drive to put "Islamic instructional materials" in America's 16,000 public libraries. "Given that anti-terrorism experts such as Steven Emerson and Dore Gold have identified Saudi Arabia as funneling millions to terrorist groups, we expect that many of CAIR's books may try to justify the actions of those who support terrorism against America and Israel," says Minnesotans Against Terrorism member Leora Maccabee. It's M.A.T.'s hope that every Minnesotan will buy or borrow, and read, each of these 18 invaluable books -- and make up their own mind about how America should act to prevent terrorism. |
